How do I love this?

This is exactly the kind of picture I find both admirable technically, and tremendously moving emotionally. I don’t know that this is an effect you particularly strive for, but — This one is just plain beautiful!
Just plain beautiful does not sound too bad, the intentions of the author notwithstanding. I found this picture in last year’s archive (I’d never gotten around to posting it, the contexts just did not seem right) – and I agree: The picture worked out fine; the seeming tangibility of the bark’s structure makes it deeply satsfying for me too … Though walking in that park, I just liked the aspect of this tree against the white cloud.
