Did you adapt the WordPress theme to get the very large photos that big?
If you use this theme without the widget area, photos can be displayed this large – and that is one of the reasons I chose it.
Another one is displayed above: The total width available is 960px, which also lends itself to presenting (for example) three pictures 300px wide plus the 30px spaces between them. If you need further help, do not hesitate to ask!
