Just a Moment

When, a while ago, the lens artists challenged us to share quiet moments, instead of going through my beach and museum and travel photos, I wondered if, and how, I could show my quiet moments en miniature. Pondering several possibilities, I realized that reading almost always gives me some quiet – and that I can experience this quietness everywhere and anytime.

Today I would like to share a couple of pictures which surprisingly turned into a short story.

  1. The station could be in Hamburg (Brandshof), Copenhagen (Arne Jacobsen) or somewhere in days of old. Wonderful setup and lighting.

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you, Stefan! I actually looked into both stations you mention – both classics, and much loved – but they both seemed too complicated to build (I couldn’t be bothered with the tiles). So I chose this gas station from Chemnitz.

  2. Tobias, I am so impressed with your skill set, for your minimalist take, and the feeling that you must have a great love for black-and-white.

  3. OMG, Tobias. This gallery is amazing! Every time I see your photos, I can’t help but wonder how long it takes for you to create these detailed images. Beautiful!

    1. Thank you Egídio! Some are are done within an hour, others take days… Apart from building the gas station from scratch – it’s mostly cardboard – composing and lighting took way longer than setting up the mini figures.

    1. It looks so simple yet was one of the hardest ones – since I do not do anything about the lighting when I edit, lighting was extremely tricky here. It took a couple of attempts to get there…
