Beynac. Part Two
Inside Beynac Castle, following the light, and the structures, and the colours. A contribution for both Jo’s Monday Walks and Thursday’s Special at Paula’s Lost in Translation.
Beynac. Part One
A walk up to the castle of Beynac (Périgord). During this year’s trip to France I was often intrigued by the way roofs, pigeonaires and chimneys seemed to define space in very particular ways, and I tried to capture something of what I thought I understood in these pictures.
Part two will take you inside the castle where I fooled with the available light…
Since the ascent to the castle was indeed a walk, and because our path was lined by traces of the past, I seize the opportunity to participate in two great challenges: Jo’s Monday Walks and Thursday’s Special at Paula’s. Please check them out; both Paula and Jo have regular challenges, and both of them are great hosts.

Les Jardins d’Eau
And since this is another Monday Walk for Jo, here’s the Périgord landscape you see once you look up from the details…
Geheimnisvoll
Geheimnisvoll – mysterious is this month’s magic motto at Christina’s Episodenfilm, a blog that is always worth a visit, by the way. The picture may conjure a mysterious atmosphere, but it also shows a part of an art installation that seemed quite mysterious to me as well. I liked it, no doubt, but I am not sure if I would have enjoyed understanding it.
Fountain – Les Jardins d’Eau
Périgueux
While traveling, I find it difficult to decide how abstract or documentary I want my pictures to be. This year, without my minifigures around (which I only regretted once), I decided to do two things:
- Follow the light.
- Keep in mind that I might want to contribute to Jo’s Monday Walks.
That evening in Périgueux, we enjoyed the upside of less-than-nice weather, and the pictures are all about light.
Scale
In Les Eyzies, Périgord, France. An entry for the Weekly Photo Challenge.
Traces of the Past
This is an entry for Paula’s Thursday’s Special. All traces were found in southern France (Languedoc). Check out the other contributors’ pictures as well if you like.
Les fenêtres de Béziers
Montpellier Compositions
Contributing to Lucile de Godoy’s 101 Photo Rehab, and an addition to my last two posts – check out the other great entries for the rehab! You are in for some inspiration.
Montpellier | Starring Stripes
A case, I am afraid, for Lucile de Godoy’s 101 Photo Rehab, and an addition to my last post.
A Montpellier Walk
A contribution for Jo’s Monday Walks: You get to see so many pretty things in Montpellier that we could not leave out one single alleyway. So while this was our last visit before heading back home, there will be a few more pictures from this great city.
Uzès
Uzès is a town in the south of France, and it is definitely worth a walk (or two). So what could be more appropriate than entering this post as a contribution for Jo’s Monday Walk? Jo collects walks from all around the world. I also enjoy her project because walking and photography are a perfect match … ain’t they?
