A famous song text by Bertold Brecht. One of the English translations is, “Oh, the shark has pretty teeth, dear…” — I am still wondering though if somebody might have bought it if this post’s title had been “Been diving…” — And I just realize since this is a marine animal it might be a good choice for Paula’s Thursday’s Special.

2018 ho!
Beynac. Part One
A walk up to the castle of Beynac (Périgord). During this year’s trip to France I was often intrigued by the way roofs, pigeonaires and chimneys seemed to define space in very particular ways, and I tried to capture something of what I thought I understood in these pictures.
Part two will take you inside the castle where I fooled with the available light…
Since the ascent to the castle was indeed a walk, and because our path was lined by traces of the past, I seize the opportunity to participate in two great challenges: Jo’s Monday Walks and Thursday’s Special at Paula’s. Please check them out; both Paula and Jo have regular challenges, and both of them are great hosts.
Somewhat Temporary
From Sarlat
Foot Work
For this week’s photo challenge.
Complicity. A mini mystery
By the window
Paula’s Thursday Special is windows, and I think I can finally contribute with this picture (after all, it shows a couple of them).
Strange place for a tree
“The streets were dark with something more than night.”
“I work at it, lady. I don’t play at it.”
Transient Parthenon
At documenta Kassel, for the Weekly Photo Challenge.
“She was the music heard faintly on the edge of sound.”
Noir | parts 4 and 5
When I posted a couple of these pictures before, they appeared in a slightly different context. Adding a new picture today obviously changes the narrative. So I feel I can live with the repetition – and I hope you don’t mind.
Tip: Clicking on the NOIR link in the header menu will take you to a page I set up to present the pictures on a darker background, which looks more ‘cinematographic’ to me. At least, it seems to highlight the scarce lights.
Off the record (I)
The whole picture is a “trace” of the past – as everybody in the know will immediately see. So here is my entry for the photo challenge at Paula’s Lost in Translation.

For the record: The makers of the Toy Photographers blog kindly invited me to contribute! I feel absolutely honoured. However, I do not link to my post directly because I think the whole blog is really worth a visit. And please do not miss the discussions in the comments sections – they are just as interesting!
